Pet Microchipping: A Safe, Reliable Way to Protect Your Pet
We offer microchipping services for dogs and cats, providing an effective and permanent solution to help ensure your pet's safety. A microchipped pet is far more likely to be returned to you if lost, offering peace of mind for you and security for your pet.
What is a Microchip?
A microchip is a small electronic device, about the size of a grain of rice, that is implanted between the shoulder blades. The procedure is quick, minimally invasive, and relatively painless, similar to receiving a routine vaccination. Once implanted, the microchip remains in place indefinitely, although it may migrate slightly over time.
How Does Microchip Identification Work?
Each microchip is programmed with a unique identification number. After the chip is implanted, you will create an account with the microchip registry to ensure your contact information is linked to the ID number.
Most veterinarians and animal shelters are equipped with microchip scanners that can read the chip’s ID number. If your pet is found, the scanner will retrieve the number, and the registry will contact you to inform you of your pet’s location.
Does My Pet Really Need a Microchip?
We strongly recommend microchipping your pet. Studies show that one in three pets will become lost at some point in their lives, and without proper identification, 90% of them do not make it back home. Microchipping is a simple, reliable way to ensure that your pet has the best chance of being safely reunited with you, as nearly all humane organizations now utilize microchip scanners.
